Linux
Linux ist ein quelloffenes und freies, Unix ähnliches Betriebssystem unter GPL (General Public License) Lizenz. Linux wird als ebenbürtige und sogar bessere Alternative zu proprietären Betriebssystemen wie Windows von Microsoft und den kommerziellen UNIX-Systemen wie Mac angesehen.
Das innovative Betriebsystem ist ideal geeignet für Einsteiger und Profis, wie auch für Kinder und Senioren!
Warum Linux?
Linux ist:

- benutzerfreundlich (Desktop)
- voll ausgestattet (Software für Büro oder Multimedia)

Betriebssystem Geschichte
Linux ist konservativ/bürgerlich (UNIX ähnlich), sozial, liberal, neutral, etc, hoch aktuell, frisch und wird kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt.
Marktanteile Betriebssysteme
In Unternehmen (ab 200 Mitarbeiter) liegt der Marktanteil von Linux über 50% (in kleineren Unternehmen mindestens 10-20%) und bei Supercomputer sogar über 75%. Linux besitzt die höchsten Zuwachsraten aller Systeme! Die Betriebssysteme Windows (Win 95, WinNT bis WinXP) von Microsoft haben kontinuierlich Marktanteile (4% seit 2003) verloren und liegen nur noch mit 88.4% vor Linux. Der Browser Firefox, ebenfalls quelloffene Software, erzielte sogar einen Anstieg von 0 auf 25% in weniger als drei Jahren. Der Trend geht in Richtung Linux!
Wichtig: Die Marktdominanz von Microsoft Windows gab es nicht von Anfang an.
Richtiger Einstieg in Linux
Windows XP wird bald 5 Jahre alt, Vista verzögert sich, und das nicht zum ersten mal und wird dann mindestens 6 Jahre nach Windows XP herauskommen. Für die schnelllebige Informatik-Welt sind dies Ewigkeiten. Mit Linux gelingt es Anfänger wie Profis sich von den Microsoft-Fesseln zu lösen und so bereits heute eines der neusten und erfolgreichsten Betriebssysteme und Software zu nutzen! Einen dauerhaften und schonenden Umstieg in die, mit üppiger Software ausgestattete freie Linux-Welt, kann mit einer bevorzugter Linux-Distribution erfolgreich und einfach realisiert werden.
Linux ohne Risiko testen. Wer ganz ohne Risiko in Linux reinschnuppern möchte, für den empfiehlt sich, eine Live-Distribution wie Knoppix auf einer CD oder DVD in das Laufwerk zu legen, den Computer neu starten und von dieser CD zu starten. So kann Linux ohne Risiko getestet werden.
Für einen optimalen Linux-Einstieg, helfen einem auch Linux-Paten. Wer dann ganz sicher gehen will, kauft sich eine Linux-Box wie z.B Ubuntu, Kubutnu oder Suse (mit Handbuch und Support) und wenn noch nötig ein umfassendes Buch.
